Hotel Room and Wayfinding Sign Count
This calculator multiplies the number of guestrooms by the signs per room, then adds wayfinding and shared-space signs and any spares you choose. Hotel teams use it to turn a floor plan into a sign count. Guestroom Sign Co still needs your sign schedule, mounting locations and any requirements, because a count does not check a design.
Build your plan
Inventory is separate from design compliance. Supply the sign schedule, mounting locations and applicable requirements for review.
The decision behind a hotel room-sign schedule
Room count alone cannot describe a wayfinding order. Reconcile the door schedule with corridor directions, amenities and reception labels. The property team should supply the applicable design and accessibility requirements. Keep room identifiers as text so leading zeros survive the transfer into artwork.
Keep with your brief: Room schedule, directional destinations, mounting and applicable requirements.

Load these inputs in the tool aboveUnderstand what the result means
(Rooms or offices × signs per room) + shared-space and wayfinding pieces + spares
The example produces 48 pieces. The direction arrows, room labels and mounting details still need approval per sign. Keep identifiers as text in the artwork schedule and preserve the original sequence so a batch can be checked against the building plan on arrival.
How would a three-floor hotel count its signs?
A hotel has sixty guestrooms over three floors, twenty per floor, each with one Hotel Room Number Plaque. Each floor also needs a lift lobby sign and a stair door sign, which makes six Custom Door & Wayfinding Sign pieces. Each floor has an ice and laundry point, adding three amenity signs. The ground floor adds four more for the fitness room, pool, lounge and reception, plus one directory. That makes fourteen shared signs. She enters sixty rooms, one sign each, fourteen shared and two spares. The total is seventy-six. She sends the schedule to Guestroom Sign Co with the count.
Check these details before using the result
- Counting signs, not sign faces
- A corridor sign that hangs from the ceiling may need two faces. Note double-sided signs in the schedule so the quote reflects them.
- Skipping the lift lobby
- Guests decide which way to turn as they step out of the lift. Count a direction sign at every lift lobby before anything else.
- Assuming the count settles requirements
- The calculator counts signs only. Your property team supplies mounting locations and any accessibility requirements for review with the schedule.

Hotel Room Number Signs
Build the set around the property's actual numbering schedule and mounting locations. If tactile, Braille or other regulated features are required, include those requirements explicitly; the design concept alone does not establish accessibility compliance.

Welcome Desk & Lobby Sign
Choose the viewing position before the overall width. A wall sign behind reception and a small counter plaque serve different distances; reserve detailed check-in steps for a companion notice when needed.

Does this calculator tell us which signs need Braille?
No. It counts the signs you enter and nothing else. Which signs need tactile characters or Braille, and where they must be mounted, is decided by your property team under the rules that apply to you. List those requirements in the schedule you send with your quote request.
How should suites with two doors be counted?
Count the doors that guests will look for. If a suite has a main door and a connecting door that both face the corridor, each may need a plaque. Enter the larger number per room, or add the extra plaques as shared signs and name them in your schedule.

Use one location schedule per property, with exact room identifiers, sign functions and face directions. Keep permanent room plaques separate from directional and changeable information. A common visual identity does not mean every corridor or mounting surface needs the same sign.
